According to the historian Geoff Hunt, Rice Means (pictured above left and centermost right) won his position as national commander by giving a good party. In so doing, Means established a VFW Post #1 tradition of hospitality that continues to this day in our lounge, recently renamed Stewart's.

Stewart's has new hours and new staff. New hours are Mon-Fri 11AM to 10PM, and Sat-Sun 11AM to 8PM. The lounge will stay open longer if traffic warrants. Our new bartenders -- Virginia, Tim and Ryan -- are loyal, dependable and downright fun. Travis, our new maintenance man, has done a wonderful job of cleaning the place up. Bo Vikstrom has taken over as bar manager.

Stewart's enjoys the return of the Up The Creek Ski Club, the oldest such social organization in Denver, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each moth. The Post has hosted these folks off and on for over 20 years. And throughout all of this time, Laurie Lawrence has and will continue to be their bartender.

The Post has recently begun hosting a blitz tournament on the first Saturday of each month beginning on June 5 at 6 pm. Buy-in for the double-elimination tournament is $10, and the pot goes to the winner and runner-up.

The Post also recently hosted a tournament on the bowling machine and may also make this a monthly event.
