127th Founders Day
On December 1, 1899 a group of Spanish-American War Veterans from the First Colorado Volunteers Led by Brigadier General Irving Hale met in the basement of the State Capitol Building in Denver. They created a new Veterans organization that they titled The Army of the Philippines, chartering the Denver Chapter John S. Stewart Camp No.1as the First Camp Named after a beloved fallen comrade. Later The Founders met on the Eighth floor of the Brown Palace while writing our By-Laws, laying the foundation of what would become the largest Veteran’s organization in the country.

Why This Night Matters
VFW Post 1 is more than a building; it’s a testament to 127 years of resilience, advocacy, and brotherhood/sisterhood. Every year, on Founders Day, we pause to remember those who came before us and reaffirm our commitment to those who still wear the uniform and those who never take it off in their hearts.
This is your legacy. This is your Post. Join us in celebrating it.
