127th Founders Day

On December 1, 1899 a group of Spanish-American War Veterans from the First Colorado Volunteers Led by Brigadier General Irving Hale met in the basement of the State Capitol Building in Denver. They created a new Veterans organization that they titled The Army of the Philippines, chartering the Denver Chapter John S. Stewart Camp No.1as the First Camp Named after a beloved fallen comrade. Later The Founders met on the Eighth floor of the Brown Palace while writing our By-Laws, laying the foundation of what would become the largest Veteran’s organization in the country.
